Cochinchina Momordica seed (Moc Miet Tu) is a medicinal herb that has been used in various Vietnamese traditional medicines for the treatment of bruises, mumps and mammary gland infections. Objective(:) To establish for content determination of total saponins in Moc Miet Tu. Methods(:) Total saponins was determined by UV-Vis spectrophotometry after extracts of the sample had been coloured. Results(:) The Moc Miet Tu was extracted soxhlet in 5 hours by metanol. The extracts was refined by n-butanol. The quantitative methods was scaned for 400-700 nm wavelength range and choosed 555 nm as the determination of the wavelength. The methods was linear in the range of 50- 150 μg/ml (r = 0.9988), and the average recovery was 100.2 %
RSD was 1.59%. Conclusion(:) The methods is sensitive, reliable, simple and reproducible for the determination of the contents of total saponins in Moc Miet Tu.
