Effects of-seed storage and exposure of pre-soaked seeds to dry treatment (55°C) on chromosome aberrations were examined. Stored seeds of Allium fistulosum L. which was bought at markets and harvested in a field in Hanoi were used in the present investigation. Chromosome aberrations at mitotic meta and anaphase were examined in the primary root tips of germinated seeds. The duration of pre-soaking and of dry treatment effected germinated seed rate and frequency of mitotic chromosome aberrated cells. High frequency of the cells with spontaneous chromosome aberrations (mean 36.1 percent) and major abberation was fragmentations of chromosometype (48percent) was observed in the stored seed. While in the newly havested seed, these frequencies were 23.17percent and 28.2percent respectively. And the major abberation was the chromosome bridge of the chromatid-type. Dry treatment (55°C) of pre-soaked seeds of Allium fistulosum L. using incubate may only be induced in a rooted source with many chromosome abberations, which is mutated materials for practical teaching of the mutation chromosome types.
