The paper presents a method of calculating overflow and deposits of the reservoir using software HEC-6. This model enables the calculation of sedimentation process with respect to time in irrigation and hydropower reservoir. Deposit result allows determining overflow process in Son La reservoir. The basic content of this article presents the application of HEC-6 software in calculating the overflow and deposits of Son La Hydropower reservoir in accordance with Vietnam standards and norms in order to define the limit of flooding level in the reservoir, as a basis for resettlement works in Son La hydropower reservoir project affected area.
