It is necessary to minimize the vibration and detriments caused by the earthquake induced loads. Passive control method using the tuned mass damper can be characterized by its simplicity in controlling principle and in device, by the ease of installation and maintenance, and by the low cost. By numerical analysis, this article shows the effectiveness of the method and the affects of TMD's parameters on the efficiency.
