This study aims to evaluate the possibility of culturing Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas Thunberg, 1793) in estuaries and coastal areas of Nghe An province. The experimental oysters was cultured by hanging ropes on bamboo racks in 3 different sites belong to Hoang Mai estuary, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province from April to September in 2010. The results shown that, environmental parameters (especially salinity) during experimental time were not optimal but within adaptability range of Pacific oyster. This study suggested that to enable culturing Pacific oyster in Hoang Mai estuary as well as other estuaries, coastal areas of Nghe An province with similar environment condition, it is neccessary to set up studies on proposing solutions in order to reduce salinity effects on the species in rainy season by earlier stocking time or larger size of juvenile.
