The study was implemented from 3/2009 - 3/2010 at salt effected area in Cai Nuoc district and freshened area in Tran Van Thoi district of Ca Mau. The aim is to identify factors affecting productivity and quality
and to investigate the growth amd productivity of Ta Xanh coconut cultivar grown in these two distinct ecological areas. The results showed that in salt effected areas, average salt concentration of water bodyin ditch and river are 11.5 percent, 20.9 percent, respectively and 3.7 percent in soil much higher than those in freshened areas. The yield of Ta Xanh coconut in salt effected area averaged 25.9 nut/tree/year, equal to 50 percent of that in freshened area.
