Research objective: Evaluation on the movement rehabilitation effects in patients with stroke by Hoa u thong mach. Subjects and methods: The study was initially carried out in 100 patients suffered trom the stroke in Vinh Phuc Traditional Medicine Hospital (trom January 2010 to December 2010). These patients had previously been treated acute stages. The patients were divided into groups: Study group using Hoa u thong mach, Control group using electro acupuncture. Criteria for assign the treatment results: recovery: Rankin level I and Barthel level I
moderate recovery: Rankin level II and Barthel level II
partial recovery: Rankin level III and Barthel level III
no recovery: unchangeable Results: The rate of recovery and moderate recovery was 72,2 percent, higher than that of Control group (68,5 percent). The rate of partial recovery in study group and control group was 27,8 percent and 31,4 percent respectively. No recovery was not found in both group. Conclusion: The treatment by Hoa u thong mach applied to patients hemiplegia caused by stroke has proved to be more effective than treatment with solely electro-acupuncture. The difference is statistically significant with P 0,01.
