The infection by the blood parasite Leucocytozoon sp. in scavenging chickens in Thai Nguyen province was studied. The flocks identified as infected was 49/120 (representing 37.98 percent of the studied flocks). The chicken prevalence of the infection by the Leucocytozoon sp. as determined by the blood examination was 84.05 percent and the mortality was 42.48-53.33 percent. The prevalence increased as a function of the age (from 1 to 6 month old). Difference in the prevalence was not found in the breeds of chickens.
