Infectious bronchitis (IB) is an acute and highly contagious respiratory disease of chickens and causes remarkable loss in the intensive poultry production. This study has isolated IB virus from 100 congestive or mucus tracheas at poultry farms in Lam Dong province using inoculation of allantoic cavity of embryonic eggs. The results showed that lesions such as stunting (dwarfing) and curling of the embryo and its feet have been found in 54 percent infected embryos. These lesions are typical for the presence of this virus. 54 field isolates from allantoic fluid were used for RT-PCR and were detected 9 positive for S gene of IB virus. Nucleotide sequencing determinated that 4 isolates were 88 percent identity to serotype 793B strain 4/91 and 1 isolate was 98 percent identity to serotype Mass strain H120. Therefore, this study has indicated the presence of IB serotypes in Lam Dong and is the basis of researches on IB epidemiology and its alternation in Vietnam.
