Research purposes: To evaluate the relationship between PT derived fibrinogen determinations and the Clauss fibrinogen assay on Sysmex CA-1500 coagulation analyzer. Methods: Samples were ana lysed from 6 groups: normal subjects (n=21), surgeried heart patients (n=23), patients with renal dysfunction (n=25), patients with liver dysfunction (n=22), patients receiving oral anticoagulant treatment (n=33), critically ill patients (n=21). PT were performed using thromboplastin derived from rabbit brain. Fibrinogen determination was assayed by Clauss method. Results: The relation between PT derived fibrinogen and Clauss. fibrinogen was found be dependent on the patient's clinical group. Conclusion: It is unsafe to use the PT derived fibrinogen for patient monitoring
it may prove to be a useful screening test in the preoperation coagulation bilan.
