 The authors have treated 25 patients with liver cirrhosis who have repetitive gastrointestinal bleeding due to broken esophageal veins by TIPS method. And the result shows: successful technique: 100 percent, successful clinical: 92 percent
  Complications after TIPS includes: Encephalopathy syndrome: 12 percent
  Gastrointestinal rebleeding: 8 percent
  elevated liver enzymes: 4 percent
  Cause of death: serious gastrointestinal bleeding and hepatic coma
  Follow up a long time: Encephalopathy syndrome: 4.3 percent, reduction in esophageal varices: 91.3 percent.
