From 1/2006 to 12/2009, of the 416 blunt hepatic trauma patients underwent nonoperatlve management at Viet-Duc Hospital, 338 patients with haemodynamic stable or restabllised after resuscitation, without combination injuries required laparotomy. Result: the successful rate of the procedure is 94.6 percent, the good rate is 92.9 percent, the complication rate is 7.1 percent, the laparotomy conversion is 5.4 percent but there are only 2.7 percent related hepatic injury, one case missed bowel injury (0.2 percent), so the successful rate is 96.1 percent if including only blunt hepatic trauma. Conclusion: With good condions in Viet-Duc Hospital, non operative management of blunt hepatic injury is safe and effective technique applicable to hemodynamically stable patients who lack other indications for laparotomy and who can be adequately monitored.
