Purpose: The author performed this study to evaluate the effect of CVVH for the treatment of septic shock patients. Methods: 40 septic shock patients at Viet-Tiep Hai Phong Hospital were treated with CVVH with AN 69 membrane, blood flow rate was 160-180 ml/min, ultrafiltration rate was 45 ml/kg per hour, standarzided heparin was used for anticoagulation. Parameters were measured before the beginning of the CVVH and 6, 12, 24, 48, 72 hour after. Result: After 6 hours pulse rate decreased significantly in survivors (p 0.001), MAP Increased significantly in both groups (survivors and non-survivors), CVP was stable. The dose of norepinephrine was decreased significantly after 6 hours and the dose of dobutamine was decreased significantly after 24 hour in survivors. The mortality rate was 60.0 percent. Conclusions: CVVH improves the hemodynamic in septic shock patients, allowed a reduction in cathecolamine doses and reduced mortality rate.
