Study objectives: Review symptoms, morphology and estimate early surgical treatment results of arterial injuries in extremities at Viet Tiep Hospital, Hai Phong city. Patients and methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study. A total of 153 patients with injured peripheral arteries were under surgical treatment at Cardiothoracis and Vascular Surgery Department, Viet Tiep Hospital. Result: 30.95 percent patients was young adults, most were male, unemployed or farmer and live in suburbs. Main etiology was penetrating wound. Fast and efficient pre-hospital first aid, early operation helped treating most of arterial injuries before 6 hours. Diagnosis based essentially on symptoms. Most important symptom was acute limb ischemia. Main morphology in penetrating injuries was transection
in blunt trauma was contusion and thrombosis. Main technique in penetrating Injuries was direct anastomosis and in blunt trauma was venous autograft. Blunt trauma required more romplex treatment and worst outcome. 77.8 percent patients had good result. Overall romplication was low, most frequent romplication was prolonged limb edema (48.3 percent). Conclusion: Right fist-aid, fast diagnosis and operation with right technique contribute to successful outcome in peripheral arterial injuries treatment.
