Purpose: Studying several clinical and semiclinical characteristics and the indications on myelolipomas treatment. Objective and method: 10 patients having myelolipomas selected from 500 files of laparoscopic adrenalectomy at Viet Duc hospital from 1999 to 2010. The author have used the retrospective description study method. Ten adrenal myelolipomas were laparoscopically treated in Viet Duc hospitaal. 8 lesions were located on the right adrenal gland (80 percent). Mean surgical time was 90 minutes (range 50 to 240). Average bleeding was 50 ml (range 30 to 150). There were no intraoperative complications or conversions to open surgery. Average hospital stay was 3.8 days (range 2 to 7)
no complications were registered during the immediate postoperative period. Pathology reports confirmed all specimens as myelolipomas. Mean maximum tumor diameter was 6.5 cm (range 3.5 to 9.7). Conclusion: Adrenal myelolipomas may grow over time, but they can usually be followed without surgical excision. In some cases, very large myelolipomas can present with pain and can be confused with necrotic adrenal carcinomas, thus necessitating their surgical removal. Laparoscopic surgery is a safe and feasible technique with reasonable operating time as well as limited blood loss, hospital stay and convalescence.
