A cross-sectional descriptive study combining both quantitative and qualitative methods was conducted in 6 provinces including Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Ninh Thuan, Dak Lak, Tra Vinh and An Giang. The study subjects were leaders and workers of the water supply sector in the above provinces. The results show that: 1) In the water supply sector, communication activities on HIV/AIDS control and prevention has not been much paid with attention
2) HIV/AIDS controland prevention activities suitable with the water supply sector include: talks, training courses for small groups of people, competition on HIV/AIDS prevention. leaflet and condom provision
3) HIV/AIDS control and prevention activities in the water supply sector should be organized coordinately with other branches and programs/projects
4) Nowadays, HIV/AIDS control and prevention activities in the water supply sector are facing many difficulties such as lack of related instructions, lack of funding and manpower, and special characteristics of the water supply sector.
