The survey was conducted in 8-ecological regions, at 16 provinces and 64 districts, applying the cross-sectional descriptive method quantitative data collection. The study aimed at assessing the knowledge of 992 prevention and control staff at all levels on the early warning and rapid reaction to bird flue A(H5N1). Results: A majority of staff could only name 2/7 purposes of surveillance, the number of staff who name all 7 purposes was only 4.4 percent. The rate of staff giving correct and complete answers about early warning of influenza A(H5N1) epidemic accounted for only 28.3 percent, not much different between the administrative levels. Almost of interviewees only reported about the number of cases ( 85 percent) and deaths ( 50 percent) in emergency and weekly reports
very few of them mentioned about the time, location, number of people in areas having cases or suspected cases of disease. The rate of those who answered correctly and completely about the steps of epidemiological survey was found at only 6.4 percent.
