In the coal mining and processing activities, for ensuring the safety purposes, it is essential to understand clearly the nature of the coal spontaneous combusion. The article introduces some initial research results on the coal decomposition and weathering process depending on the temperature variation and in some cases they are considered as the major basis for the coal storage works.
