Restructuring of the financial sector is a hot issue of Vietnam economy in the context of global recession. Vietnam is now in the initial phase of financial sector restructuring. Therefore, it is very important to learn from those countries that have valuable experience in this area. South Korean economy is a good case to study. After briefly presenting some issues of Korean financial system before the regional currency crisis, this paper focuses on main measures which Korea government applied to reform the financial sector. The paper draws some lessons for restructuring of the financial sector in Vietnam.
