Since the financial crisis in 1997, some ASEAN governments are more aware of the need to have a banking-financial transparency and strong system. These countries considered that FPI can bring adverse effects on their economies, so they have issued regulations to regulate the flow of capital. The adjustment of policies and laws after 1997 has led some ASEAN countries continue to become the destination of foreign portfolio investment inflows in the world.
