Injury by road accidents has been a leading cause of death with yearly 1.2 milion of deaths. In which, 90 percent occured in countries of low and average income. There are on daily average of 30 deaths and 70 disable persons by traffic accidents in Vietnam. In 2008, Ministry of Health issued Decision No. 17/QDBYT to approve the national program on accident and injury prevention up to 2010. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of this program in Ho Chi Minh city, a research design of intervention .. pre and post comparation - was developed and its result as follows: Contrary to the number of accident and injury has been increasing, proportion of deaths due to accident and injury (included traffic accidents) accessed to hospitals for emergency has been dereasing from 2008 to 2010. Especially deaths due to traffic accidents has been sharply dereasing, from 1.94 percent in 2008 down to 1.39 percent in 2010. Proportion of head trauma by traffic accidents has been dereasing respectively 83.8 percent, 82.3 percent and 64.7 percent. Correspondence, proportion of deaths due to head trauma by traffic accidents has been dereasing respectively 1.7 percent, 1.6 percent va 1.3 percent. That result proves that the program has been successfully implemented.
