Hyperhomocysteinemia is now recognized as an independent' risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in patients with normal renal function. Hyperhomocyst(e)inemia is common in patients with predialysis, but still unknown in Vietnam. This study was designed to evaluate serum homocystein and look for an association between hyperhomocyst(e)inemia and atherosclerotic vascular disease in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The result indicated that plasma Hcy level in prepatients was significantly higher in normal controls (26.39 + or - 10.15umol/L, 9.56 + or - 1.92umol/L) with p 0.001. Whereas the median serum tHcy was significantly higher in the patients with thicker intima media (ClM), the linear regressioh and correlation is CIM
