The survey on population dynamic and damage of the Panicle Rice Mite (PRM), Steneotarsonemus spinki Smiley was conducted at 7 agro-ecological regions in Vietnam for 2 year 2010 and 2011, according to the 10TCN 982 - 2006 of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The results showed that at all agro-ecological regions the appearance of PRM and their damage symptom was clearly seen. At a higher elevation (mountainous area) liked Dak Lak, Son La PRM density was lower than in the rest regions. In the north Vietnam, among two crop (spring and summer), their density and damage in summer crop alwayshigher than in spring crop. In the South and Central Vietnam where rice planted in 3 crops per year, then PRM density and damage in the first crop is low, following second crop, their density and damage was higher and the third crop their density and damage is lower than the second but higher than the first crop.In a rice crop their density increased from tillering stage and the highest density was at flowering to milking stage. In a intensive farming sites like An Giang and Ha Nam province, the damage ratio was high 55 percent and 77 percent, respectively. Between two rice crops, PRM remained and developed in alive rice stem with 35 mites/tiller at Hanam, 24 mites/tiller (Nghean) and 156 mites/tiller (Angiang). This was a main infestation source to the next crop.
