Silver is a heavy metal with antiseptic property that has long been used in medecine, but it's just practiced for infected vascular lesion recently. The authors initially applied silver coated vascular graft in treatments of vascular infections such as mycotic aneurysm or infected vascular prothesis for 16 patients from 12/2010 to 2/2012: 14 patients for first operation and 2 patient with infected vascular prosthesis. Bacterial culture positive was found in 9 patients (7 were S. Aureus. 1 E.Coli and 1 Candida). Early results is good (15 success, 1 died by intestinal necrosis on post-op) but we need further research for the role of this new vascular prothesis.
