Background: Malnutrition and anemia are public health significant problems in Vietnam. Malnutrition is often associated with anemia in areas with difficult living conditions. Objective: This study was conducted to describe the nutritional status and anemia in adolescent girls in the targeted communes in Child Malnutrition Control Program. Results: The prevalence of thin (BMI 5th percentile) was very high among adolescent girls aged 10-13 years (42.1 percent). The prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls (22.7 percent) was classified with moderate (20 to 39.9 percent) level of public health significant problems.Conclusions and Recommendations: Undernutrition and anemia are public health significant problems among adolescent girls in the targeted communes in the National Malnutrition Control Program. In the coming years, ther is a need to implement the effective solutions of prevention and intervention to lower the rate of malnutrition and anemia for adolescent girls in the high risk areas of the community.
