Objective: To assess the therapeutic effects of radiofrequency ablation of liver tumors. Methods: 117 patients of liver tumours underwent radiofrequency ablation: 58 patients RFA with an open surgical approach, 32 patients RFA with the laparoscopic approach and 27 patients with the percutaneous under ultrasonographic or computed tomography guidance. Results: There were no treatment related deaths, 7 patients with the increasing risk of postoperative liver failure, four of whom dead in three months
18 patients with the incomplete tumor ablation, 9 patients with local recurrence after a follow-up of three months, 10 patients with local recurrence after a follow-up of six months and 26 patients with local recurrence after a follow-up of one year. Conclusion: Radiofrequency ablation is effective for medium and small liver tumors.
