Introduction: Choledochal cyst is a rare disease of biliary duct in adult. Treatment for this disease was open excision of choledochal cyst and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy. Nowadays, laparoscopic excision of choledochal cyst is attracting attention of hepatobiliary surgeons. The aim of this study is evaluation our initial results at Hue central hospital. Method: Prospectively, from june 2007 to june 2011, 12 patients with choledochal cyst were operated laparoscopically. There were 4 males and 8 females with the mean age of 30.75 + or - 12.30 (range from 16 to 62 years). All were type 1 (Todani, 1997). The mean diameter of the cyst was 4.3 + or - 0.96 cm Choledochal cysts were resected laparoscopically and Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomys were performed through a small incision in right subcostal region. Results: Laparoscopi resection was successful in 8 cases with the mean time 218 + or - 18.5 minutes, 4 cases were converted. There was neither intra-operative complications nor blood transfusion. No prolonged bile duct leakeage was recorded. Mean hospital stay was 8 days. One case of cholangitis was discovered in follow-up period. Conclusion: Laparoscopic resection of choledochal cyst in adults is safe, feasible and have a lot of advantages. Howerver, this is a very difficult operation requiring a very experienced surgeon. In the initial period, pelforming a small incision in right subcostal reglon for intestinal reconstruction and hepaticoje-junostomy make operating time shorter, but remaining the advantages of laparoscopic operation.
