Percutaneous Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasty (PBMV) is the procedure of priority choice for pregnant women. The present study was undertaken to summaryze the information of 112 pregnant women with severe mitral stenosis before PBMV. Methods: All patients underwent clinical and obstetric evaluations, electrocardiography, and 2-dimensional and Doppler echocardiography. Results: 112 pregnant women (aged 29.01 + or - 5.18 years old), at 26.15 + or - 5.59 weeks of gestation. 17 (15.19 percent) are in NYHA II, 75 (66.96 percent) in NYHA III, 20 (17.85 percent) in NYHA IV. Wilkins score or 8 at 20(17.85 percent) patients. Mitral valve area 0.89cm2 , diastolic mitral gradient 20.86mm Hg, mean pulmonary artery pressure 78.49 mmHg. Conclusions:112 pregnant women with severe rheumatic mitral stenosis undergoing PBMV at Bach Mai Hospital have the same clinical and paraclinical characterristics as pregnant women in some studies in the world.
