Chronic low back pain is a common condition, with significant impact to daily life and labor of each person. Internal disc disruption is a major cause, about 40 percent of chronic low back and/or leg pain patients. Pathological basis of discogenic pain is full-thickness radial tears of the annulus fibrosus. The painful nature of annular disc tear like sciatica. Two diagnostic imaging methods which are most useful to determine this disease are magnetic resonance imaging of the lumbar spine and provocative discography.
