Breeding of hybrid cucumber has been done in Southern Horticulture Research Institute (SOFRI) since many years. The source matelials include 90 samples were evaluated and grouped base on origin, number of per plant and weight of fruit. This source materials were also selected by using top cross method to test the general combining ability, combine with phenotype obselvation and evaluation. The 11 best lines were selected and used as the parental lines. The hybridization were made by using dialelle methods. The select prospect combination has been done and among 110 hybrid combinations produced, after 4 crop season trials: Autuum-winter 2009 (110 hybrids), spring 2009 (25 hybrids), summer and autuum-winter 2010 (5 hybrids), the hybrid No.31 is considered one which early harvest, average branching, many flowers on the main stem, elongated fruit type, fruit length of 16 cm, diameter of 3.8 cm, fruit flesh thickness from 0.9 to 1.0 cm, crispy sweet flesh and green color peel which preferred in market now. This hybrid is proposing be used in the farming areas of the Southern provinces.
