In Cuu Long river delta, annually, flood season starts from Sept to December which results in intensive inundation in more than 1/2 area of the region. In this region, fish-pond latrines are widely adopted by local people. In this regard, it is extremely important to prohibit defecating into fish-ponds which lead to environmental pollution and deterioration of nearby landscape and finding appropriate types of latrines for Cuu Long delta citizens. Composite floating latrines, which were designed based on standards of septic tanks, were piloted at 29 households in 3 commnues i.e. Truong Xuan, My Hoa, My Qui where inundation commonly occurs in flood season in Dong Thap Muoi district of Dong Thap provine. Results show that this type of latrine meets physio-chemical and microorganic criteria of a septic tank and also accepted by local people and widely replicatied.
