This paper presents the investigation results on synthesizing porous NiTi by self-propagating hightemperature synthesis (SHS). The results showed that, reaction between Ni and Ti occurred at minimum preheating temperature Tp = 250°C. When preheating temperature increased, ignition time decreased. When preheating temperature Tp or = 450°C, the combustion reaction was able to be simultaneous mode (thermal explosion). XRD pattern results showed that after SHS reaction, mainly phase of samples were NiTi. Porosity of samples were relative high (in range of 44 percent - 58 percent), ratio opened-pore were higher 80 percent. SEM image results showed that, shape and distribution of pores were relatively uniform in the longitudinal and cross-sectional samples, pore size was in range of 100 - 500um.
