Apple snail (Pila polita) is potentially aquaculture freshwater species due to using its muscle as Vietnamese favourable food. This study investigated the effect of fish meal supplement and stocking densities on growth and survival of apple snail from 0.8 to 30 g. The dietary experiment included 4 treatments with 3 replicates. The four diets were 100 percent duckweed Pistia stratiotes (B)
B plus 95 percent rice bran +5 percent fish meal (BC5)
B plus 92.5 percent rice bran + 7.5 percent fish meal (BC7.5) and B plus 90 percent rice bran +10 percent fish meal (BC10). The snails were cultured at density of 150 ind./m2 in netting cages immerged in pond. Feeding was done daily at 18 h
cleaning was done each two day. The stocking density experiment included two treatments each with two replicates. The two densities were 100 and 150 ind./m2. The snails were cultured in mud pond with surrounding netting
100 percent water exchange was done each month. The experimental results indicate that after a 150 day culture, the growth and survival of snails depended on the diets. The snails fed with BC5 and with BC7.5 had growth and survival better than those fed with B or BC10 (p0.0l). The 150 day culture of snails at 100 ind./m2 gave growth, survival and profit better than those at 150 ind/m2. The results suggest using the diet containing duckweed and a manufactured feed equivalent to 1 percent total body weight made of rice bran and 5-7.5 percent fish meal and a density of 100 ind/m2 in growing out apple snails.
