In order to evaluate the effect of cleaning organic matters before disinfection in pigsty (floors, walls and boots), an experiment was carried out at the fatterning pigsties of Thuy Phuong Pig Research Centre (after emptying the pigsties) from May to November 2011. Four experimental lots were tested with different cleaning substances. In the -151 experimental lot, the pigsties were cleaned by water. Soapy solution was used for cleaning in the 2nd experimental lot. Lime solution with concentration of 15 percent was used for cleaning in the 3'd experimental'lot and NaOH solution was used in the 4th experimental lot. Samples collected before and after cleaning 6 hours were tested for E.coli, Salmonella, total aerobic microorganism, coliform. Studied results showed that using NaOH solution to clean the pigsty was more effective than other cleaning solutions. NaOH solution reduced a number of bacteria
E.coli (44.3 - 64.3 times)
Salmonella
total aerobic microorganism (37.2 - 55.8 times)
coliform (37.8 - 50.6 times) compared to water, soapy solution and lime solution (with concentration of 15 percent).
