The paper shows the economic situation of Vietnam in the early decades of the 21st century and the challenges posed by the quality of growth, analysing the factors that reflects the knowledge economy index in Vietnam today. In the end, the authors offer suggestions contributed to improve the quality and efficiency of scientific research and the basic measures to improve the knowledge economy index in Vietnam today.
