Whether being philosophically conscious or being overwhelmed with emotions, Dao Tan's poems, portrayed in terms of nature and life, are filled with Zen. Despite the possibility of entering into Zen and unacknowledging himself as being a truly Zen, Dao Tan is, in fact, a Zen in his works, thus being deserved to be called a Zen person. Zen poetry is one of his most distinctive themes and is an integral part of his spiritual portrayal. It is this theme that helps proceed the Vietnamese Zen poems, making a huge contribution to the diversified national literature.
