A retrospective study on 288 deaths caused by Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Vietnam during 2008 - 2010 showed that most of them had typical clinical manifestations of severe degrees with fever, haemorrhage, headache, body pains, muscle/bone/joint pains, hemoconcentration and thrombocytopenia, causing shock and shock-like syndrome. 100 percent deaths had fever, of which 62.5 percent with high fever ( 39°C)
90.3 percent with prolonged fever (2 to 7 days)
88.2 percent with haemorrhage. Common manifestations included tourniquet signs (51.4 percent)
petechiae and ecchym.oses (49.3 percent)
blood in vomit (32.6 percent) and dark stool (24.3 percent). 100 percent deaths belonged to 3rd and 4th clinical degrees (with shock and shock-like syndrome)
