Esophageal foreign body is most common an urgent. Although the mortality is low but the complications waste of time, money and health of patient. Objectives: To review the clinical characteristics of esophageal foreign body (FB) and to evaluate effect of removing FB by flexible Oesophagus Scopie. Study design: Clinical analysis. Subject and methods: medical record of 48 patients were diagnosed for esophageal FB and treated at endoscopic department - National ENT hospital. Results: organic FB is 89.58 percent. Cervical esophageal FB is the most common in 87.5 percent of patients, thoracic esophageal FB is 10.42 percent of patients, diaphragmatic and abdominal esophageal FB is rare (2.08 percent). Clinical signs were odynophagia, dysphagia in 100 percent of patients. 83.33 percent of patients have radiopaque FB on the lateral cervical X-ray. 2.08 percent of patients have complication of cervical esophageal abcess. Endoscopy is used successfully for FB removal in 93.75 percent of the cases. 97.92 percent of the cases have esophagoscopy for FB removal with no complication. 2.08 percent of the caces have ulcer formation. bleeding due to sharp object. Conclusion: Esophagoscopy by FOS to remove FB is simple method, little pain and complication.
