Background: Every year, Vietnam has about 30,000 children die from injuries, including drowingt is common, especially for children, with a ratio of about 5 percent of deaths due to injury. To treat drowing patient is a medical emergency, in which the cardiopulmonary resuscitation is very important. Object: Study 14 children diagnosed with drowing treated at Pediatric deparment of Tien Giang General Hospital in 2011. Method: Cross-retrospective study. Results: Age group the highest drowing was 1-5 years old (57 percent), percentage of male/female = 1.8, location was ponds and canals. Clinical characteristics at admission were maily disorders consciousness, pneumonia and respiratoruy failure. Paraclinical characteritics were hematocrit, sodiumemia decreased, 75 percent of children with metabolic acidosis. Coma and respiratory failure may affect treament outcomes.
