The Annals of the Dai Nam [the Main Part], the Seventh Reign is the national history books of Vietnam under the reign of Emperor Khai Dinh (1916-1925), completed by the National historiographers' office of the Nguyen Dynasty in 1939. The only full text ever known of this set of history books is the manuscript being kept in the Library of the EFEO (Ecole Francaise d'Extreme-Orient) in Paris. The Annals of the Dai Nam [the Main Part], the Seventh Reign consist of 10 volumes and a Prelimimary volume. This article introduces the full-text translation of the Preliminary volume, including Emperor Bao Dai's edict on further printing that set of books, the petition of presenting the books and the report on asking permission for further printing by the National historiographers' office, the Preface, the Index, and the title of the compilation board. This is necessary information helping readers with an overview of the last history written by the last feudal dynasty in Vietnam, which has not been translated into Vietnamese language yet.
