Xuan Thuy wetland in Xuan Thuy National Park is the first RAMSAR site of Southeast Asia. In 2004, UNESCO continuously recognized Red River Delta Biosphere Reserve, in which Xuan Thuy National Park is the core zone having a special importance of biosphere reserves in the world. This place has the populations of some important species in maintaining the biodiversity of wetland and is the only place in Vietnam recorded the existence of waterbirds. Based on the biodiversity research
there were 115 vascular plant species of 42 families
219 bird species of 41 families among which are 9 endangered species listed in the IUCN Red List. The research also listed many rare species of benthos, amphibian and plankton, especially, Blach-faced Spoonbil and Saunders's Gull residing at the top offood chain. The results showed that the solutions are an important issue in making conservation measures and maintenance of rare species in the near future. On the other hand, it will satisfy the current interests of the local communities, and fully meet national and intemationallong-terrn benefits as well as future generations.
