A study on the effectiveness of pyrethroid-mixtures in treating resistant An.epiroticus was conducted both in the laboratory and fields in An Trach, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province from 7/2010 to 7/2012 with the initial results as follows: The Impregnated FDl, FD2 Nets (Mixture of 15-20mg Fendona + 5-10mg deltamethrin) on the 1m2 display had a high killing effect: The knock-down effect was 100 percent, the residual effect after 5-6 months reached to 65-68 percent (for Ae.aegypti, An.dirus strains in the laboratory) and 65-70 percent (for An.minimus, An.epiroticus strains in the field). Six months after bednets treament the non-washed nets could produce blood inhibition from 82-85 percent as compared with control (in tunnel tests). The Impregnated FI1, FI2, FI3 Nets (Mixture of 10-20mg Fendona + 10mg ICON) on the 1m2 display had a high killing effect: The knock-down effect was 100 percent, the residual effect after 7-8 months reached to 70-75 percent (for Ae.aegypti, An.dirus strains in the laboratory) and 65-78 percent (for An.minimus, An.epiroticus strains in the field). Six months after bednets treament the non-washed nets could produce blood inhibition from 83-88 percent as compared with control (in tunnel tests). The Impregnated FI3 Nets (Mixture of 10 mg Fendona + 10mg ICON) on the 1m2 effective prevent mosquitoes An. epiroticus home, inhibiting primer and burning mosquito, although mosquitoes An. epiroticus resistant to 2 chemicals. The Impregnated FI3 Nets (Mixture of 10 mg Fendona + 10mg ICON) on the 1m2 effective anti-mosquito screen An. epiroticus resistance to chemical insecticides in the study at Bac Lieu better display soaked ICON (dose 20mg/m2) alone. Impregnated Nets with the mixture of pyrethroid chemical group (Fendona/ICON / Deltamethrin), used as alone or in combination do not cause any side affects and safe for users.
