Objectives: Transanal one-stage endorectal pull-through (TOSEPT) has been presented as the most recent progression in treatment of Hirschsprung's disease, which may be able to replace various previous techniques. This prospective study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and probable complications of this procedure in management of children with HD. Material and method: Seventy-one children (43 boys and 28 girls) underwent TOSEPT-all after being diagnosed by barium enema over a 5 years period. All patients were followed-up every 6 month after hospital discharge. Results: There was no per-operative complication. Laparotomy was necessary in 6 chidren and laparoscopy was used in two others (11.2 percent). Mean operative time was 109.3 + or - 21.8 minutes. Mean postoperative time was 8.7 days. TOSEPT was redone in 4 patients (5.6 percent) because of aganglionic segment remaining. With the mean follow-up of 23 months, all childrens were well-being. Conclusion: The data suggested that TOSEPT is efficacious and safe in the managememnt of children with HD.
