To evaluate the outcomes of partial nephrectomy for renal calculi in Viet Duc Hospital, the author reviewed the records of 97 patients (62 males and 35 females) with radiopaque renal calculi treated by lower-pole partial nephrectomy, from January 2009 to January 2011. The success rates, complications and the length of hospital stay were evaluated. Percentages of calculous distribution according to 51, 52, S3 groups were 21,7 percent (21/97), 14,4 percent (14/97), and 63,9 percent (62/97), respectively. The mean duration for controling renal hilar was 22,4 percent 4,4 minutes, the mean duration for one operation was 85,2 percent 21 minutes and the mean of hospital staying period was 8,9 percent 3 days. The good and moderate results were 71,1 percent (69/97), 26,8 percent (26/97) and 2,1 percent (2/97), respectively. Conclusions: Partial nephrectomy is still playing an important role in treatment of renal calculi, especially in the local hospitals where were lack of medical epuipments. The results of study showed that this is safe and effective operation.
