Evaluation of drought resistance of rice is a necessary and useful work in order to shorten breeding time and to cut down prices. It is necessary to do this work every year. The seed of rice varieties and lines with different drought resistance was treated by xacarin and KCID3 solution. The obtained results indicate that it may use the germination rates of grain in the xacarin and KCID3 solution in order to evaluate the drought resistance of rice at grain stage. A test for drought resistance of rice plants at tillering stage in the green house has been developed using planed drying treatment of 15 day old plants. The control and selected lines and varieties were compared by dry weight, total root length and drought resistant ratio (T). The relative resistance indexes were calculated by the mathematic formula. The obtained results indicate that this method could be applied for evaluating the drought resistance of rice.
