To assess the quality of integrated management of children illness (IMCI) training course, the possibility of maintaining and upgrading IMCI skill on commune health care workers, the study was carried in Thach An district, Cao Bang province. The quality of case management has been significantly improved in Thach An district Health centre, Cao Bang province. Cases correctly assessed for all of four general severe signs was above 50 percent
Cases correctly assessed for the presence of 4 main symptoms were more than 95 percent
cases correctly checked on immunization status were higher than 95 percent. Cases correctly treated with antibiotics were 100 percent (2/2 cases). Follow-up activities after training are necessary to improve health care workers's skills on case management at the first level.
