A study was carried out at households of Luc Yen district, Yen Bai provine from 2009 to 2011 to evalue carcass performance and meat quality of Co goat,
Crossbred F1 (Bach Thao x Co) and crossbred Boer x F1 (Bach Thao x Co). Results showed that their dressing and lean meat percentages of crossbred were higher than Co goats. Example, Boer x Fl (Bach Thao x Co) was 48.02 and 37.06
Fl (Bach Thao x Co) was 46.85 and 35.43 percent. This was 44.45 and 33.60 percent in Co goats. Crude protein content of Co goat was higher than Fl (Bach Thao x Co) and Boer x Fl (Bach Thao x Co). Cholesterone content of Fl (Bach Thao x Co) and Boer x Fl (Bach Thao x Co) meat was lower than Co meat It was therefore suggested that using the male Bach Thao goat to mate with Co goat and male Boer goat to mate with Fl (Bach Thao x Co) to obtain high carcass performance and meat quality. Levels of essential amino acids of Co goat meat have been higher than Fl (Bach Thao x Co) and Boer x Fl (Bach Thao x Co). Although body weight of Co goats were smaller, but the nutritional value of Co goat meat was high.
