The calculation of energy losses in electrical networks is essential in power system management, planning and operation. Currently in Vietnam the energy loss calculation methodologies are historically based on foreign approximately estimation of electric power loads. This paper presents the investigation of the accuracy in applying approximate loss factor for calculation of energy loss in Vietnam Distribution Networks. The data for this investigation is developed from the 2001-2010 data of consumed electric energy in country power distribution units and certified typical load curves of Vietnam Power Distribution Networks.
