Objective: to evaluate activities of storage, deposit, citation, copyright and release of medical journals in Vietnam. Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study based on an indirect interview with self-filling questionnaire for editorial leadership, combined with collecting information by telephoning from Aug 2010 to Sep 2011. Results: Most of journals are stored regularly in their agency(91.4 percent) and were deposited in Authority of Press/Authority of Publication. 2/3 of the journals was deposited in the National Library of Vietnam. Number of journals registering copyright with Copyright Office of Vietnam was low (32.4 percent). 80 percent of journals was self-released Most of journals was issued to 63 provinces/cities. The average release number of journals was low. 2/3 of journals had completely or partially self-funding activities. Conclusions: Almost journals are regularly stored in journal agencies and are deposited at the National Library of Vietnam, Authority of Press/Authority of Publication. Release number of journals and number of journals registering copyright with the Copyright Office of Vietnam were low. Most of journals had self-funding activities.
