Cross sectional survey was done in 28 provincial centers of preventive medicine on the capability of microbiological testing and knowledge of staff on prevention, control of infectious disease as well as the technical support of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the period of 2011-2012. Results showed that health staff oftheprovincial centers of preventive medicine in the north were trained on the basic testing techniques about intestinal bacterie related to common infectious diseases such as cholera, dysentery, typhoid and E. coli accounted for 100 percent. The support of the Institute was done for the centers of about 82 percent and they had ability to perform the work of more than 82 percent of the total provinces. Ability to confirm the diagnosis of respiratory virusese was of 17.9 percent. Other bacterial testing techniques was at low level both of basic training and ability to perform. The virological tests was done very few
mainly perform the rapid diagnostic tests including: HBV 82.1 percent
HIV 53.6 percent
restrict to use high tech testing: 10.7 percent done with Serodia and diagnostic ELISA
Western Blot technique was of 3.6 percent. Scientific staff often trained on infection control before recruitment met the requirement of the Ministry of Health, accounted for 90 percent and met the actual work, accounted for 91.7 percent
but remain the lowest level of the possibility to response the epidemic control exercises, comprised of 75.0 percent
National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology had technical support in these fields for the centes accounted for 76.9 percent of total provinces.
